Jonathan Isaac’s NBA career has been defined by injuries to date. It’s a shame because his upside is otherwise limitless. Isaac is a 6’11 wing/forward/big/anomaly who can genuinely guard 1-5. When healthy, he’s looked like a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate.

In this deal, the Pacers are willing to gamble on his remaining upside. Meanwhile, the Magic are ready to cut ties with him. It feels worth noting that some reports suggest that Isaac’s controversial political views have alienated him from teammates. A fresh start may be best for both sides here.
