San Antonio Spurs
There’s a reason we like the San Antonio Spurs as a landing spot for Rui Hachimura. We like the Spurs as a landing spot for any young player in need of development.
If anyone can coax some late bloomer development out of the 24-year-old, it’s Gregg Popovich.
His record as a teacher is unimpeachable. With all due respect to the Washington Wizards as an organization, Hachimura has not had the benefit of a coaching staff with that kind of track record. If environment counts, there’s nowhere Hachimura would be better off.
The Spurs also got the bandwidth to offer him a featured role. Dejounte Murray is the first option here, and Keldon Johnson is looking like his second fiddle.

After that, the pecking order is wide open on the San Antonio Spurs. If Hachimura hits his ceiling, there’s no telling how high he could climb within this organization. Meanwhile, if Gregg Popovich is overseeing his development, he’s quite likely to hit it.
