The Philadelphia 76ers seem in desperate need of a roster shakeup, but they don’t have many avenues to pursue one. They’re likely capped out, either by virtue of James Harden accepting his $47 million player option for next season or them having to re-sign Harden to prevent losing him in NBA free agency for nothing.

The one option that the Sixers do have to change up their roster is to make a trade. While the makeup of their roster will make it difficult to find deals that make sense, playing the trade market will be the only real option President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey will have to improve his team.

The only mid-level contract the Sixers have signed on for next season is Danny Green’s at a non-guaranteed $10 million figure. All other deals are either worth $5 million or less or over $30 million. Due to this fact, if Philadelphia were to make a significant trade before next season, it would have to be a blockbuster deal.

A major move would likely require the 76ers to part with Tobias Harris, whether it’s a massive trade or just a shakeup for a solid player. For a blockbuster deal, his massive salary would need to be involved for salary matching purposes and it would be a matter of what else is included.

Let’s look at a potential NBA trade scenario that would send John Collins from the Atlanta Hawks to the Philadelphia 76ers.
