How This Trade Impacts Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are in the early stages of their rebuild, which means they should be open to taking on as much draft capital as possible. The more draft picks they have, the more flexibility they will have to make trades down the road.
Duncan Robinson isn’t someone that the Rockets desperately need to add, but he would bring some positives to the roster. Houston needs more spacing for their young players to operate and there likely isn’t a player that can be acquired, along with that much draft capital, like Robinson.
Robinson would help the development of Kevin Porter Jr., Jalen Green, Josh Christopher and Alperen Sengun with his 3-point shooting ability. The attention that he draws around the perimeter will make life easier for them.
In this scenario, they are taking on a large amount of money owed to Robinson, but are compensated with a future first-round pick and a second-round pick. Houston should push for the 27th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft as well, as Eric Gordon could be worth the price.

Miami might balk at that price but Houston has to at least ask. Gordon is one of their better trade chips, so this is a chance for them to cash in by adding the extra draft capital. It has already been reported that the Rockets plan on using him as a starter, so the Miami Heat needs to be prepared to have to blow the Rockets away with an offer.
