Sacramento Kings Receive: G Grayson Allen, G Pat Connaughton
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: F Harrison Barnes
It’s worth noting that the Kings have an obvious imperative to compete in 2022-23. Having traded Tyrese Haliburton for the much older Domantas Sabonis, they’ve made their intentions clear:
Their 2022-23 season is all about a playoff run. Ultimately, that’s why there have been NBA trade rumors about the Kings being open to trading the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft to help fuel their pursuit of ending their playoff drought.
Whether this deal gets them closer to that goal remains to be seen. This 2-for-1 improves the squad’s depth but hurts the top end of their rotation. Barnes is the best player involved in this transaction.
Still, the Kings could decide that two is better than one. Both Connaughton and Allen are high-effort floor-spacers. They’d both be complementary pieces to an offense focused around De’Aaron Fox and Sabonis.
