How This Trade Impacts Chicago Bulls
It would be a big blow to the Chicago Bulls if Zach LaVine decided he wanted to leave town. They did everything correctly when it comes to rebuilding a team, but LaVine sometimes being relegated to a supporting role as DeMar DeRozan starred could be part of the reason he is looking elsewhere.
If he ultimately decides to move on, working out a sign-and-trade deal is something that the Bulls need to work on. They cannot afford to let LaVine walk while receiving nothing in return. So, they hammer out a deal with Dallas.
Chicago fills the void for a scoring guard with the addition of Tim Hardaway Jr. When healthier during the 2020-21 season, he was at times the best Maverick not named Luka. He has the tools to be a solid defender as well.
Reggie Bullock is an excellent 3-and-D player. He is a 38.5 percent shooter from 3-point range in his career and is a strong perimeter defender. Bullock can hold his own against wings and both backcourt spots, providing another stopper along with Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso.

Maxi Kleber provides some insurance in the frontcourt for a Bulls team that was lacking depth beyond Nikola Vucevic. Kleber provides more of a defensive presence in the frontcourt and is a solid pairing for the offensive-minded Vucevic.
While replacing a player of LaVine’s caliber is virtually impossible, the Bulls are at least lengthening their rotation in this deal. Depth was sometimes an issue, but they reinforce the depth with three solid players.

They are also adding another rookie that the Mavericks use the 26th overall pick on and a future first-round pick in 2025 to add to their arsenal. That can help Chicago facilitate another deal to upgrade the roster, as they have some assets already in their possession.
