If Sam Presti is set on acquiring a transcendent star through the draft, he’ll love this trade. Getting two more kicks at the 2023 Draft goes a long way towards achieving that end.
It’s widely regarded as a historic class. Of course, it’s headlined by French phenom Victor Wembenyama. The 7’3 big man plays with the fluidity of a guard on offense while flashing defensive anchor potential as well.
Still, he’s not alone in the class. Scoot Henderson is the most anticipated point guard since John Wall. Dariq Whitehead, the Thompson twins, Anthony Black, and others all flash star potential. Following this deal, the Oklahoma City Thunder would have an unbelievable seven (!) selections from this wildly talented group.
This deal also lands the Thunder two potential long-term rotation players in Toppin and Reddish. On the other hand, Presti may not care.
