Charlotte Hornets Receive: Myles Turner
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: G Terry Rozier
Indiana Pacers Receive: G D’Angelo Russell, 2022 First-Round Pick (No. 15 – CHA)

At first glance, this may appear to be a lateral move for the Timberwolves. From a strict talent perspective, it may be. From a fit perspective, it should be an upgrade.

Russell is inclined to probe a defense, waiting for the right opening to make his move. Rozier is more inclined to make his own opening. He may not be the type of point guard we’ve had the Wolves landing in these other deals. He’s a score-first guy. Still, his decisiveness might make him a better fit.

More importantly, his superior floor-spacing certainly will. Rozier is a combo guard. With him at the 1, the Wolves would be able to run more offense through Edwards and Towns with a major threat to attack closeouts waiting on the perimeter.

Meanwhile, the Hornets get a much-needed big man in Turner. His ability to space the floor and defend the rim should suit their needs perfectly. Landing him will be well worth the price of Rozier and a first-round pick.
