Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F T.J. Warren, G T.J. McConnell
Indiana Pacers Receive: G D’Angelo Russell
If the Minnesota Timberwolves have a unique preference for players named T.J., they’ll pull the trigger on this one in a heartbeat.
They’d have good basketball reasons to do so as well. If they’re looking for a point guard who’ll get the rock to their two stars, McConnell is their guy. He plays the game without a hint of ego. He’s a pass-first point guard to the fullest extent, and he’ll help his guys feast accordingly.
Warren is a much more sizeable risk. He’s been injured for the better part of two years and it’d require a sign-and-trade. On the other hand, the last time he was healthy, he looked the part of a star. The Wolves could be adding their third option through this deal if they’re willing to accept the risk.
On the other hand, they may not be. There’s no telling what Warren will look like as he recovers from a series of injuries.
