3. Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets are a team that needs to shake things up this offseason. They have made the NBA Play-In Tournament two seasons in a row, but have been blown out each time in the opening game.
That is likely part of the reason the Hornets fired James Borrego this offseason as head coach. The search is on for his replacement, but this roster could use some adjustments as well. What the Hornets likely don’t need is more young players that will sit on the bench.
The Hornets made two selections in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft, landing James Bouknight and Kai Jones. Both played sparingly and don’t have a clear route to playing time this season either. With picks No. 13 and 15 at their disposal this year, they could meet a similar fate.
Instead, the Hornets could package them up and try and move up into the No. 11 spot where the New York Knicks currently occupy. Depending on how the offseason looks like it is going to shake out, New York can likely fit two rookies on their roster and find playing time for them easier than the Charlotte Hornets can.

Looking to swing a blockbuster trade as well, the Knicks package would be stronger having multiple picks in this year’s draft, in addition to the extra selection they have in 2023 via the Dallas Mavericks.
