Julius Randle

One of these things is not like the other. With that said, they may be able to serve the same purpose.

Julius Randle may not be a point guard, but he is a distributor. In fact, his 5.1 assists per game in 2021-22 were barely less than Kyrie Irving’s 5.8. In today’s positionless league, teams care less about where their production comes from, and more about the production they’re getting.

Maybe it’s disingenuous to say the LA Clippers need a point guard. They need a distributor. Randle qualifies.

He had an undeniably subpar 2021-22 season, but that was following up a superb 2020-21. It’s possible that Julius Randle is overtaxed as the Knicks’ top option. As a third option on the Clippers, he may thrive in terms of efficiency, even at the expense of volume.
