Miami Heat Receive: G Devonte’ Graham, F Larry Nance Jr., G Garrett Temple
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: G Kyle Lowry
This is one of those trades with both potential risks and rewards for both sides involved.
For the Miami Heat, they’re giving up the presumptive best player in the deal in exchange for depth. Often, that’s not ideal. At the same time, if Lowry’s decline turns out to be age-related, he may not be the best player in this deal.
Devonte’ Graham is a capable floor-spacer and a deft passer. He’s a borderline starting-caliber player. Meanwhile, Larry Nance Jr is a swiss army knife of a forward, capable of guarding multiple positions. They’ll both be valuable additions to this Heat roster.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans are betting that Lowry’s game will return to form along with his hamstring. If it does, they’re committing robbery here. Lowry could join CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and one of Jonas Valanciunas or Jaxson Hayes to form one of the most talented starting lineups in the entire NBA.

If this trade doesn’t work, it may be that the Heat would prefer a more proven commodity instead of a collection of role players. In that event, adding a third team to the equation may suit them.
