Jerami Grant will continue to be the subject of trade rumors until the Detroit Pistons finally move him. With that said, Miami is not a location that he’s frequently linked to.
This is one of those deals that may not be in the rumor mill, but when it happens, you think “huh. That makes sense”. Grant is a perfect fit for Miami. He’ll basically function as a younger P.J. Tucker with less defensive intensity and more shot creation. This deal allows a Conference Finalist to improve.
Meanwhile, the Pistons get great value for the veteran wing/forward. Jaxson Hayes could be a perfect pick-and-roll partner for Cade Cunningham. He’ll provide the Pistons with a great rim protector on the other end of the floor. Adding him along with two first-round picks is a great move for this team.
If anybody declines this deal, it might be the Pelicans. Parting with Hayes for the sake of adding Lowry could be too substantial a risk for them to stomach. On the other hand, they may feel an urgency to win given the rumors surrounding Zion Williamson’s satisfaction with the organization.
