Making the Case: Miami Heat
The NBA has seen many teams load up on stars over the years in order to win championships. That is exactly what he would be doing if they can find a way to trade for Donovan Mitchell.
Pat Riley is not new to this trend. He might have gotten the whole thing started back in 2011 when he was able to get LeBron James and Chris Bosh to town to team up with Dwyane Wade. With Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo in place, Riley could do it once again with the likes of Mitchell.
Butler has shown repeatedly that he can put up huge scoring outings in the playoffs when the Heat need him most. With a talent like Donovan Mitchell alongside him, they’d add a dynamic perimeter shot creator that can draw the attention of the defense.
After a season where they finished at the top of the Eastern Conference, Miami would only get better with the acquisition of Mitchell. They didn’t quite have enough firepower to get by the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals and could use another star.
