Making the Case: Los Angeles Lakers
At this point, the Los Angeles Lakers could go in many directions when it comes to reshaping the roster.
Since LeBron James was brought to town, we have seen a certain aggressiveness by the front office to build a winner. That might have gotten carried away last offseason by bringing in Russell Westbrook, which was a strange fit from the beginning.
Now, priorities could shift to the defensive end of the floor. The Lakers struggled to shoot from deep last season and were not a defensive powerhouse. Rudy Gobert would improve this right away. He continues to be one of the best defenders in the league and his offensive game is improving.
It is clear that Gobert does not do much work outside of three feet from the basket. He shot 71.3 percent from the field this season, which was tops in the league. He could thrive alongside a pair of dynamic facilitators in LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.

The Lakers have plenty of offensive weapons on the roster already and could look for some help from three-point range. Gobert would take care of the frontcourt and give the Lakers some toughness on the defensive end of the floor.
