Worst Landing Spot: San Antonio Spurs
It’s not uncommon to see Malcolm Brogdon linked to the San Antonio Spurs. On a surface level, it makes sense.
These Spurs seem allergic to tanking. There’s good reason to believe they’ll try to incrementally improve the team by acquiring impactful veterans like Brogdon.
Plus, Brogdon just feels like a Spur. He’s the type of high-IQ, high-character player this team generally covets. He’d become an instant favorite of Gregg Popovich. So, what’s not to love?
Well, the Spurs’ best player is a point guard. That’s a starting point. While Brogdon can shift to the 2, Dejounte Murray doesn’t feel like an optimal backcourt partner for him.

More importantly, the Spurs should be rebuilding, whether they like it or not. Between Murray, Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, and others, they’ve got an intriguing young core. They don’t have nearly enough to be relevant in 2022-23. Whether they add Malcolm Brogdon or not, that will remain a harsh reality.
