Good Landing Spot: New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans were pleased to punch a ticket to the postseason in 2021-22. Next year, they’d probably like to win a series.
Acquiring Brogdon helps with that goal. The Pelicans need a starting-caliber point guard. Devonte’ Graham is a skilled player, but a defensive liability. Jose Alvarado is his inverse. Brogdon is a two-way player who’ll cover for both of their weaknesses.
He’ll also make up for the poor defense of his new backcourt running mate. CJ McCollum is a gifted scorer, but he’s not known for preventing points. In fact, few players on this Pelicans squad are.
Brogdon may not be the game-changing defensive force that can revolutionize a team, but he’s above average. The Pelicans would have to take that, especially with all the contributions he makes on the offensive end.
