Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, F Dorian Finney-Smith
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G D’Angelo Russell
You won’t find a simpler way to land D’Angelo Russell on the Dallas Mavericks than this.
The Minnesota Timberwolves shouldn’t hesitate to pull the trigger on this one. They’re getting the 3-and-D power forward they’ve been missing alongside Karl-Anthony Towns in Finney-Smith. Incidentally, they’ll also be leading the NBA in hyphenated names per frontcourt player.
Jarred Vanderbilt did a solid job as the starting 4 for the Wolves this year, but he simply can’t shoot. injecting Finney-Smith into this roster gives them the ability to run five out spacing in their starting lineup.
Dinwiddie is a nice Russell replacement as well. In all likelihood, they’ll suit him with the sixth man role that Russell was too highly paid to play.

A starting backcourt of Patrick Beverley and Malik Beasley is more aptly built to take a backseat in an offense structured around Towns and Anthony Edwards.
On the other hand, if the Wolves would rather land a bigger fish, bringing a third team in may help that cause.
