If you’re familiar with the term “heliocentric offense”, you probably also know that it applies to NBA superstar Luka Doncic.
For the uninitiated, a team has a heliocentric offense when the vast majority of their ball-handling is done by one player. Typically, that player is one of the best playmakers in the NBA. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been given so much responsibility.
It appears to be a strategy with a high floor and a low ceiling. Plenty of these types of teams have had success. None have hoisted the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
If the Dallas Mavericks want to get to the next level, they’ll probably have to get Doncic some help.
