Indiana Pacers Receive: F Devin Vassell, G Josh Richardson
San Antonio Spurs Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon
Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson aren’t the only promising youngsters on this San Antonio Spurs squad. Devin Vassell is a sweet-shooting, defensively versatile wing.
He’s also remarkably similar to Johnson. They’re both 6’5, and they both share a similar skill set. Granted, versatile, floor-spacing wings are exactly the type of player that modern teams double-down on.
Regardless, if the Spurs want to really compete next season, they’ll opt for a sturdy veteran like Brogdon.
Of course, the Pacers’ intentions are equally unclear. Having traded Domantas Sabonis for Tyrese Haliburton at this year’s deadline, some would argue that they’ve signaled an intention to rebuild.

There’s just one problem there: Haliburton is already really, really good. Having just landed the No.6 pick in the NBA draft, the Pacers could decide that their rebuild is finished.
This deal may still suit them. They’re in more need of a player with Vassell’s skillset than Brogdon’s, who overlaps with Haliburton. On the other hand, if the Pacers want to make longer-term plans, the Spurs may be able to offer them a more enticing package.
