Making the Case: Los Angeles Lakers
When the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Russell Westbrook, it was clear that they were giving up something on the defensive end of the floor. The idea was that Anthony Davis would be able to anchor the middle and cover that up.
LeBron James and the Lakers made it clear that they wanted Davis early on in their tenure. Once the deal was made, this was supposed to create the next great NBA dynasty, but Davis has been unable to remain healthy.
This trade all depends on how the Lakers view Davis and his health going forward. If they want to get a bit younger, they could look into Collins. He is a versatile piece because of his size and length on both ends of the floor.
Collins averaged 16.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this past season following his contract extension. He would have the chance to learn from LeBron James and this would only take his game up a notch.

This trade would be surprising because of the player that the Lakers would send away but not as surprising to see them go after Collins. This is a front office that has remained aggressive in hopes of winning and there could be more instances of that this offseason.
