Why The Washington Wizards Make The Trade
The Washington Wizards make the trade to acquire Donovan Mitchell. Thanks for reading!
Jokes aside, there’s not much to think about for Washington here. Mitchell will have three years remaining on his contract this summer. They’re locking up a long-term Bradley Beal replacement. They don’t have to change their system or head coach or do any of the things rebuilding teams do. All they have to do is plug Mitchell in for Beal.
They may want to gauge Mitchell’s interest in relocating to the nation’s capital first. Rumors suggest that he may be vying to play in a bigger market. Washington may be marginally larger than Utah, but it’s not exactly New York City.
On the other hand, it’s important to separate rumors from facts. Donovan Mitchell’s desire to increase his market size may be overstated. In that event, adding him is a no-brainer for the Wizards.
