Making the Case: Los Angeles Lakers
The offseason for the Los Angeles Lakers began weeks ago when they were officially eliminated from postseason contention. Frank Vogel was the first casualty and there could be others coming out of Los Angeles.
Many of the NBA trade rumors have been centered around Russell Westbrook because of his fit in the offensive scheme. Davis was able to help the Lakers win a title down in the NBA Bubble so it would be interesting to see if he is the player they want to move. He has been unable to remain healthy over the last two years and this could spark the decision.
As valuable as Davis is, this is not the case if he is not on the floor. He has played in just 76 games over the previous two years. This came after averaging 26.1 points per game in his first season with the Lakers.
When looking at the return, Steven Adams and Dillon Brooks are rotation players that could be in need of extensions. They would essentially get two players for the price of one highly-paid center. Adams is a veteran who brings toughness while Brooks is a perimeter threat on both ends. This immediately adds depth to a team that could use some right away.

If a championship is a standard, the Lakers might have to make a move. They thought that bringing in Westbrook was best for the team but that was clearly not the case.
