Making the Case: New York Knicks

It has been a long, long time since Walt “Clyde” Frazier was lacing up his shoes to come play for the New York Knicks. Was this the last great point guard in the franchise? It is not crazy to say despite it being 50 years ago.

New York has seen many plug-ins at this position but has been unable to find a solid option, whether in free agency or the draft. Now, Malcolm Brogdon could be on their radar in a trade.

It is clear that the point guard has taken over as the most important position on the floor. The NBA is a guard-driven league where three-point shooting his key and teams must take care of the basketball. The addition of Brogdon would benefit the Knicks on both sides of the floor but also set up teammates offensively.

Julius Randle and RJ Barrett were extremely inconsistent this season. They had to take on much of the ball-handling duties offensively, given the lack of explosiveness at the top.

This is all the Knicks should be looking for this offseason. If they truly believe Randle and Barrett are the duo to build around, they have to understand that they will need more stars. Brogdon is an above-average point guard that can help produce right away.
