Making the Case: Houston Rockets
This trade is not necessarily about the return the Houston Rockets would be getting, but Joe Harris and a first-round pick are not a bad place to start.
Harris has solidified himself as one of the best three-point shooters in the game, when healthy. He missed time this season and shot 46.6% percent from deep. Any first-round pick is beneficial to a rebuilding team like the Rockets.
Wood and Gordon are two veterans who have survived the fire sale to this point but could be running low on time. Wood is entering the final year of his contract, which makes him an obvious trade piece. As good as he is down low, it is unlikely that the Rockets keep Wood around long-term, especially if he looks for another extension.
The front office for Houston came in extremely aggressive, sending away the likes of James Harden and Russell Westbrook. Now, they can continue this notion by making smaller moves in order to clear up cap space. It is clear that Houston has been interested in building to the draft and will do so around Jalen Green.

It will take some time for the front office to get the Rockets back into contention. However, if they are able to clear contracts and cap space, it could happen sooner than one may think.
