Worst Fit: Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings are seemingly always striving for contention, and make continuous blunders in pursuit of that goal. One such blunder was sending away the franchise’s best draft pick in years, Tyrese Haliburton, for Indiana’s Domantas Sabonis.
Sabonis is a talented player, but he was not the boost to contention that Sacramento anticipated. The Kings should avoid doubling down on this move with a Rudy Gobert addition.
Like Sabonis, Gobert is a talented player. The Kings pairing the two, though, could prove disastrous. Offensively, Sabonis struggled enough next to stretch-five Myles Turner. Things would prove to be so much worse next to Gobert, who can’t reliably shoot from anywhere outside the restricted area.
The deal would be a defensive disaster as well. Forcing one of Gobert or Sabonis to guard the perimeter is far from ideal. The Kings’ defense would be too slow-footed to keep up with any quick offensive team.

Anything the Kings could give up would be too much. Pairing Sabonis and Gobert is a non-starter – it would be one of the roughest frontcourt fits in the league.
There are plenty of good options for Gobert this offseason; the Kings are not one.
