Best Fit: Dallas Mavericks
The best destination for Rudy Gobert is actually a team that has already publicly expressed interest: the Dallas Mavericks.
Similar to Atlanta, the Mavericks have somewhat of a one-man show on offense in Luka Doncic. He can manipulate a pick-and-roll better than anyone in the NBA and would have the best pick-and-roll partner of his career with Gobert.
Currently, Luka’s best roll-man is Mavericks center Dwight Powell. Powell is an explosive athlete who can finish lobs, pocket passes, and putbacks with ease. Gobert would be an upgrade to Powell, using his 3-inch height advantage to give Luka an even bigger target for passes.
Simply standing near the rim could reap points for Gobert next to a player like Luka Doncic. He can make practically any pass imaginable and could find Gobert whenever the defense looks away.

Defensively, Gobert’s contributions would be massive, of course. The Mavericks have plenty of solid wing defenders, and adding Gobert’s rim protection could fortify them as one of the NBA’s best defenses.
A deal for Rudy Gobert would require a lot from the Mavericks, of course. Perhaps the team could use guard Jalen Brunson’s pending free agency and work out a sign-and-trade deal with Utah.
