The Utah Jazz lost to the Dallas Mavericks 98-96 on Thursday, ending their 2022 NBA Playoff hopes in the first round. The loss marked another disappointment for a team that has struggled in the postseason in the Donovan Mitchell era.

Shortly after the game, Mitchell was asked about his future with the team, which appears to be up in the air. Mitchell, though, was still focused on the result of the game.

“My mindset is to win. Like I said, right now, I’m not really looking at [asking for a trade],” Mitchell said. “For me, I just want to win.”

The Jazz had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but Bojan Bogdanovic missed an open three. A make would’ve sent the series to a Game 7 and potentially extended the Jazz season another round.

Rumors have already swirled around both players, with teams like the Knicks mentioned as potential Mitchell destinations. The Dallas Mavericks, who just ended the Jazz season, have expressed interest in acquiring Gobert.

Donovan Mitchell quickly jumped to star status upon arriving in Utah five seasons ago. Never averaging below 20 ppg, Mitchell has had plenty of promising moments with the Jazz.

In the 2020 playoffs, Mitchell averaged 36.3 ppg on 63.4% eFG%. Unfortunately, the team was never able to capitalize on his postseason performances.
