Dallas Mavericks Receive: F Harrison Barnes, 2024 First-Round Pick (SAC – Top 10 Protected)
Sacramento Kings Receive: G Jalen Brunson

The Sacramento Kings made waves at this year’s trade deadline when they jettisoned Tyrese Haliburton to receive Domantas Sabonis. This trade sees them making up some of that they lost in the promising young guard.

Granted, Brunson comes at a steep price. Barnes is one of the more reliable floor-spacing forwards in the NBA. He’s no specialist either: Barnes will put the ball on the floor and create his own shot when necessary.

That makes him a perfect complement to Luka Doncic. He’d effectively play the same role as we envisioned for Jerami Grant. At 29, he probably has less trade value than Brunson, so the Mavericks get a protected first-round pick for their troubles as well.

The Mavericks could use it. Many of their picks now belong to other franchises. They can use that pick to broker a trade for another star down the line. As of now, they’d struggle to put together a competitive package for the next disgruntled star who demands a trade.
