Making the Case: Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets would be looking at this deal for a similar financial reason but it would not be because Gordon Hayward was not a strong fit.
When on the floor, Hayward has been extremely effective with the Hornets. In two years, Hayward has scored 17.6 points per game while shooting 40.2% from three-point range.
The problem is that he has only played 93 games. When looking at his original deal of four years and $120 million, it is fair to assume that the Hornets were looking for more out of Hayward.
Charlotte could end up reshaping for the future with the help of a trade for Hayward. Both Ball and Bridges are going to be in need of extensions at some point in the near future. For this to happen, the Hornets will need as much free space as possible. This is why Hayward and Rozier are options.

When looking at the team, they are preparing to take the next step in the Eastern Conference but might be a piece or two away. Once the future core is taken care of, the Hornets can worry about filling out the roster. Until that happens, the front office needs to make room financially for the future.
