Making the Case: Los Angeles Lakers
This was supposed to be one of the best trios in the NBA. Instead, it was an extremely disappointing campaign for a star-studded team.
If there is a casualty this offseason on the roster, it seems as though it could be Westbrook. Despite the injury problems around Anthony Davis, Los Angeles was able to find success with Davis next to LeBron James. The addition of Westbrook did not work from the start so this is a deal that would allow them to unload his contract.
The Los Angeles Lakers would add some more money with Hayward but the overall fit would be better. Hayward would bring a three-point threat to town. This is where the Lakers struggled a bit over the course of the season. Hayward is a veteran with experience but has also battled injuries in recent years.
It might be troubling for the Lakers to add another player with injury problems but Hayward would not bring as much baggage as Westbrook.

Hayward is a player who is used to being in the same rotation as other stars. This is what he would do in Los Angeles while bringing a welcomed dynamic. Los Angeles would have to find another option at the top of the offense but that should be the least of their worries moving forward.
