3. Malcolm Brogdon
On paper, Malcolm Brogdon is the perfect point guard for this New York Knicks team. In fact, on paper, Brogdon is the perfect point guard for almost any NBA team.
After all, he’s one of the most well-rounded guards in the league. He’s a generally efficient shooter, a stout defender, and a reliable secondary playmaker. So, why do we keep coming back to that “on paper” caveat?
Unfortunately, Malcolm Brogdon habitually finds himself on the injury report. He hasn’t managed to suit up for 70 games since his 2016-17 rookie season. Brogdon is an extremely well-rounded guard, and by all accounts, a positive influence on and off the basketball court. Still, the more time that he’s forced off of it, the less value he can provide his team.
He also comes with a significant price tag. He’s got three years remaining on a contract with an annual value of $22.6 million. For all of his positive qualities, that’s a fair chunk of change for a guy who’s likely to be on the sidelines.

That may not be enough to deter the New York Knicks from pursuing a trade for him. Malcolm Brogdon is that good. If it is, we still have two safer point guards they could target.
