Jerami Grant
It wasn’t long ago that Jerami Grant wouldn’t have fit even the loosest definition of a superstar. The opportunity afforded to him by the Detroit Pistons changed that.
After functioning as an elite role player with the Denver Nuggets, Grant has averaged 20.8 points per game over his two seasons with the Detroit Pistons. For what it’s worth, that could be partly a case of “good player, bad team”. The Pistons have been horrible.
They also have hope on the horizon. Recent #1 pick Cade Cunningham met expectations in his rookie season. Young players like Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart, and Marvin Bagley III all appear to have futures with the team as well. They’ll be adding another lottery pick to that mix this summer.
With all that under-25 talent, it’s hard to envision a future for the 28-year-old Jerami Grant in Motor City. In all likelihood, a contender would offer a sizeable package for his combination of versatile defense and secondary shot creation.
