The discourse on Ben Simmons has arguably gotten misconstrued. With so much emphasis placed on his inability to shoot, many NBA observers seem to have forgotten about the skillset that saw him drafted with the #1 pick in 2016.
We have not. Simmons is, first and foremost, one of the best defensive players in the NBA. He’s a rare example of a player who can guard 1 through 5. He’s also one of the league’s best passers. His 6’10 frame allows him to see over defenders, and his elite floor vision empowers him to make the right decision based on what he sees.
