Washington Wizards Receive: G John Wall, 2023 First-Round Pick (via MIL)
Houston Rockets Receive: F/C Kristaps Porzingis, F Rui Hachimura
This hypothetical trade was put together by Greg Swartz over at Bleacher Report. He made a trade for every team that missed the Play-In Tournament, which the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets both did not qualify to play in.
This is certainly an interesting trade to break down. It was not long ago that the Dallas Mavericks thought they had put together the next great duo in the NBA, adding Kristaps Porzingis to Luka Doncic. Things didn’t pan out, as this would be the second time in the span of a few months Porzingis would be on the move.
While his contract isn’t one a rebuilding team would normally be interested in, there would be some appeal in doing so by getting Rui Hachimura back with him. Porzingis is 26 and Hachimura is 24, so they fit the timeline in Houston.
John Wall, who will be 32 later this year, does not fit their timeline. They have been trying to trade him for nearly a year but to no success. Sending him back to the team in which they acquired him would be unheralded, but it is something Wall is reportedly open to.
