How This Trade Impacts Washington Wizards
Acquiring Kristaps Porzinis from the Mavericks was certainly a low-risk, high-reward kind of scenario. Washington parted ways with players that were not producing, taking a chance on someone who has already shown they have All-Star upside. But, the money which Porzingis is owed could quickly become a detriment.
Moving on from him and filling arguably the biggest need that the team has this offseason in finding a starting point guard would be another win. There is a lot of talent on this Wizards team, they just need a point guard to lead it and John Wall could be that point guard.
This would be another smart move for the Wizards because if Wall shows that he is not capable of being a starter any longer, they can jump back into the market in 2023. Wall is on an expiring deal, which will open up a ton of cap space to utilize. Washington could be buyers on the free-agent market or trade for an established player with the young players and draft capital that they have.
Parting ways with Rui Hachimura could hurt, but there are plenty of players to fill the void in the rotation. Kyle Kuzma has blossomed in Washington, while they still have recent first-round picks Deni Avdija and Corey Kispert as well.

The Wizards would have a talented, deep rotation heading into the 2022-23 season with the flexibility to make some big moves. But, this is likely a deal contingent on Bradley Beal re-signing long-term in Washington. That is something that has to get done first before the front office considers making other moves of this magnitude.
