Jerami Grant’s days in Detroit seem numbered. At 28, he doesn’t fit the timeline of a club in the infancy stages of a rebuild.

In all likelihood, Phoenix won’t be his next destination. As we mentioned, the team is a little cap strapped to make that kind of significant addition this summer. That doesn’t preclude this pairing from forming in due time.

On paper, it makes plenty of sense. Devin Booker already has experience playing alongside 3-and-D, multipositional wings like Grant in Cam Johnson and Jae Crowder. Imagine how much he’d thrive alongside one who doubles as a shot creator?

Grant’s career has seen many stages. He was effectively a defensive specialist in Denver, and he’s been overtaxed as the first option in Detroit. Pairing with a star like Booker would allow him to split the difference between those two roles.
