Utah Jazz Receive: F Dorrian Finney-Smith, C Dwight Powell, F Josh Green
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Mike Conley
Without question, the Utah Jazz should prefer the previous package if they’re forced into a rebuild. Draft capital reigns supreme in that circumstance. If the Dallas Mavericks won’t budge, this is a package the Jazz should still consider.
At 28, Dorrian Finney-Smith occupies a stage in his NBA career where he can fit several timelines. Ideally, the 3-and-D wing would suit up for a contender.
On the other hand, the small-market Jazz may be hoping for a quick turnaround. If so, Finney-Smith is still young enough to contribute to their next winning team. He’s also the sort of valuable role player the team could look to move in a separate package.
The meat-and-potatoes of this deal for the Jazz is definitely Josh Green. The 21-year-old plays with relentless energy. He hasn’t found significant playing time for a competitive Dallas squad, but he contributes whenever he’s given an opportunity. He may find significantly more of them with a rebuilding Jazz team.

If the Jazz fall short in this postseason, they’ll probably be forced to hit the reset button. Discord seems to define the relationship between franchise pillars Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell. A quick playoff exit this season may confirm that it’s damaged beyond repair.
If that’s the case, the team might as well trade Mike Conley in the process.
