Kenny Atkinson
Kenny Atkinson remains one of the best coaches available right now, but his fit with the Lakers might be questioned.
Atkinson is currently an assistant coach in Golden State. He spent four years as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets and was surprisingly let go right before the team signed Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. This was no surprise given Atkinson’s reputation as a player development coach.
This is the reason the fit would be questioned with the Lakers. Los Angeles is a veteran team that is interested in winning now, despite the massive letdown this season.
On the other hand, Atkinson is a great defensive mind that knows how to make the team come together. There are few players with the Lakers who need developing, but this team could use a defensive head coach and a leader in the locker room.
