Making the Case: Minnesota Timberwolves
In 2020, Malik Beasley signed a four-year, $60 million extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is currently in year two of that deal. The Timberwolves might be looking to unload the final two years with other players in mind.
Beasley is set to make upwards of $31 million combined over the next two years. This is not a significant deal that will hamstring the Timberwolves, but Edwards will need an extension soon, and it will be hefty.
At this pace, Edwards has a chance to land a massive deal, along with Towns, who is under a max contract. The Timberwolves will need all of the room they can get.
On the court, Horton-Tucker can take over the bench role that Malik Beasley played. He has the size and strength needed to compete in the middle of games.

Offensively, Horton-Tucker leaves much to be desired but can improve with a more significant role. He is a strong defender, which would benefit Minnesota in the second unit.
This is a trade that will help the Minnesota Timberwolves on and off the court. Horton-Tucker can step into a bench role while the front office prepares for an eventual extension for Edwards.
