Acquiring Ben Simmons could get them back in that sweet spot. We haven’t seen the former #1 pick in action this season, but it feels fair to assume that, at 25, he can still provide the qualities we expect from him. He’s an All-World defender, elite passer, terror in transition, and absolute non-shooter.
Of course, that last quality has limited his ceiling. In this modern, three-point dominant NBA, a lead ball-handler who refuses to fire from distance presents complications.
