5. Darius Garland
The Cleveland Cavaliers had one of the more surprising seasons in the NBA. They look to be on a great track as an up-and-coming team in the Eastern Conference. They still have some work to do to make the postseason, as they lost to the Brooklyn Nets and will now host the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA Play-In Finals.
Some what-if questions apply to the Cavaliers, such as what if Collin Sexton, Ricky Rubio, and Jarrett Allen don’t get hurt? Rubio’s injury hampered the backcourt, while Allen’s has derailed the defense.
But, one player has done all he can to help overcome those losses and that player is Darius Garland. The All-Star point guard is having a coming-out party this season and should become a household name.
He has a chance to help get the Cavaliers into the postseason with a win over the Hawks on Friday night. After that, he will have center stage in the postseason against the No. 1 seed Miami Heat to show people just how good he is.
