The team looks good early in games to build up big leads only to look awful in the second half. Fair or not, Tom Thibodeau has to take some of the blame for his team’s shortcomings. The Knicks seem to lose interest when they get up big. They do not play with energy or attentiveness which is the reason for so many blown leads.
There are plenty of teams that have blown big leads throughout the season but most of those teams will be playing in the playoffs. The fact that the New York Knicks are having a disappointing season along with the blown leads makes it that much worse. It may be unfair to Thibs but coaching in New York brings a different level of scrutiny that other coaches do not get.
Thibodeau is known for being a tough defensive coach but his team falters on the defensive end during these losses. The quickest way to come back from a large deficit is by making three-pointers.
