Minnesota Timberwolves
Heading into the 2021-22 season, the Minnesota Timberwolves were linked to just about every four available. They opted to move forward with the ones they had. That decision appears to be paying dividends.
After all, the Pups are 45-24. They appear poised to enter the postseason, and may even be able to avoid the play-in tournament. They’ve found success starting 23-year-old Jarred Vanderbilt at the four spot. Vanderbilt is something of a throwback power forward. His hustle, defense, and effort are invaluable to these Wolves, but he’s a non-factor from three-point range.
With Karl-Anthony Towns at center, the Minnesota Timberwolves are uniquely positioned to be able to lean on a player like Vanderbilt. KAT, after all, is arguably the best shooting big man in league history. It appears the Wolves don’t need spacing at power forward, as their 113.7 Offensive Rating ranks seventh in the league.
Which begs the question: how strong could this offense be with spacing at power forward?

With a five-out attack, this Wolves’ offense could be unstoppable. The combined athleticism of Kuzma and Anthony Edwards would make the Wolves a terror in transition as well. Vanderbilt could still play a vital role as a dual big on the second unit.
Unless the Minnesota Timberwolves make a surprisingly deep playoff run, they should give Kuzma a serious look heading into the 2022-23 season.
