The NBA is full of players that can be categorized as overpaid. The contracts have taken huge steps up in price in recent years and this has led to many players cashing in. This includes Julius Randle of the New York Knicks.

Randle took advantage of a strong season last year and signed a four-year, $117 million deal in the offseason. He was a major reason why the Knicks finished as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. It did not take long for the franchise to come back down to Earth.

This season, the Knicks have been eliminated from postseason contention and are near the bottom of the conference. After signing his contract, Randle has seen his numbers decline from last season.

In 72 games, Randle is averaging 20.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while shooting 30.8% from three-point range. These are all drops from last season.

Not only has his performance dipped but Randle has shown frequent frustration toward both other teams and New York Knicks fans. The overall vibe of this season has been negative and this is when trade rumors begin to heat up.

The NBA features many big men who excel from three-point range and can handle the ball. Randle played this role successfully for one season and it led to team success.

New York is a big market that is difficult to handle when things go bad. For over a decade now, it has been bad in the Big Apple and Randle is getting a taste of it.

Randle claimed that he wanted to stay in New York long-term and this led to a new contract. Now, that might not be the case. If the New York Knicks put Randle on the trading block, these three teams could be interested.
