Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?

The Sacramento Kings made a big trade at the deadline by trading Tyrese Haliburton and others for Domantas Sabonis, but the job of this front office is far from done.

De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are the only high-level talents on the Kings roster right now and in order for them to break through and finally make the playoffs, they will need another key weapon to lean on offensively.

Harrison Barnes has not been bad and has proven this season that he is still a factor on the wing or at the power-forward position in smaller lineups, but upgrading him for a player like Collins makes much more sense for this franchise, especially given their lack of interior threats.

John Collins is an upgrade from Harrison Barnes and while giving up a lottery-projected first-round pick in 2022 is not the best thing for the Kings to do, they are going to have to surrender a first-round pick at some point in a deal centered around Collins.

It is possible that they could get away with offering their 2023 first-round pick instead in hopes that they would make the playoffs the following year, but it is hard to imagine that Atlanta would not want their 2022 first-round pick.

Should John Collins be open to moving to Sacramento and playing for the Kings, this is a deal that the Kings should be willing to make.
