Does this trade make sense for the Atlanta Hawks?

Exploring the possibility of moving John Collins in the offseason is a very real scenario for the Atlanta Hawks, as it seems like a long-shot to believe they will actually claim a playoff spot this season.

Set to be picking in the lottery and also have a cap issue on their hands, the Hawks could look to trade John Collins not only to get below the luxury tax line for next season, but they could easily replace his production with that of Onyeka Okongwu’s, as well as in the production of recent first-round pick Jalen Johnson.

Not to mention, with another projected lottery pick in this year’s draft, the Hawks could look to target another big man to replicate the production left behind by John Collins.

Along with making this trade, the team could also look to move Danilo Gallinari and then have Harrison Barnes and Justin Holiday both in the starting rotation on the wing.

This is not a terrible trade whatsoever for the Hawks, as they would be adding two young talents to their roster via the draft and getting out of John Collins’ long-term contract, saving them money in the grand scheme of things.

Big changes are coming in the offseason for the Hawks, which is why it would not be surprising to see them possibly move on from John Collins in a draft night trade.
