These 3 Teams Should Consider Offseason John Collins Trade

The Atlanta Hawks’ improbable run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season gave everyone a glimpse of what was in-store for this young, high-potential Hawks franchise, but this NBA season, the Hawks have taken a major step backwards.

Currently 36-37, Atlanta is clinging to the 10-seed in the Eastern Conference and while they are just two games back from the 8-seeded Brooklyn Nets, it is hard to imagine that Trae Young will be able to carry this team past the play-in tournament and deep into the postseason yet again.

Crazier things have happened in the NBA before, but Atlanta has some major issues to sort out in the offseason.

Trae Young cannot carry this team alone and while the Hawks do have the 2nd best offense in the league based on offensive rating, they are a very inconsistent group. Some nights they go for 120 points, like they did recently against one of the best defensive teams in the league in the Memphis Grizzlies, but then other nights they will only score 101 points against the Detroit Pistons, a struggling, rebuilding franchise.

Danilo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic will be two players Hawks’ management looks at as possible trade candidates for this team to upgrade their overall roster strength, but John Collins’ name could also be brought up in trade talks.

After signing a five-year, $125 million deal to remain with Atlanta ahead of this season, John Collins has seen his overall production decline and earlier in the season, it was reported that Collins has been growing frustrated with the way things have transpired in Atlanta.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania ahead of this season’s trade deadline, John Collins had grown “increasingly frustrated” with his role on the Hawks and this is not the first we are hearing about internal frustrations in the Hawks’ locker room, as Cam Reddish was traded this season due to not wanting to be a part of the organization anymore.

Who knows what is actually going on behind closed doors, but it is a very real possibility that the Hawks and John Collins could look to part ways with one another with Collins requesting a trade in the offseason.

Should Collins be on his way out of Atlanta, these three teams should consider pursuing him on the trade market in the offseason.
