Dallas Mavericks Receive: C Myles Turner, PHX 2022 2nd Round Pick (Rights To, via IND)
Indiana Pacers Receive: F Davis Bertans, G/F Josh Green, DAL 2022 1st Round Pick (Rights To)
The Indiana Pacers made some big moves at the trade deadline this season and took a step back as a franchise by trading away Domantas Sabonis and Caris LeVert.
The organization has remained adamant on the fact that they are “retooling” and not “rebuilding”, but with no real menas to improving right away, it does seem like this franchise is going through some type of a rebuild with Tyrese Haliburton being the focal point to build around.
Indiana could very much keep Myles Turner through the offseason, but with him prepared to enter the final year of his contract, it makes the most sense for them to leverage him while his value is still at its peak.
Now in his seventh NBA season with the Pacers, Turner has averaged 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and has shot 48.9% from the floor, 34.9% from three-point range.

Beginning to expand his range to the three-point line and wanting to get more involved offensively, Myles Turner could be the perfect big man for the Mavericks to add to their roster in the offseason.
Landing Turner would not be easy given their cap situation, but Davis Bertans, Reggie Bullock and Dwight Powell are all trade candidates the Mavericks have to free up the available funds to bring in Myles Turner’s contract.
In this deal, Davis Bertans would go to Indiana along with Josh Green and a first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft on draft night.

This may seem like a lot for the Mavericks to give up for Turner coming off a season-ending foot injury, but he is one of the best defensive players in the entire league and Davis Bertans does not present much long-term value for any franchise, especially given his contract size.
Indiana would be doing Dallas a favor by taking on Bertans contract and while he does not initially look like a fit there, he has shot 39.7% from deep for his career.
As for Josh Green, he is another young, versatile player the Indiana Pacers could add next to Haliburton to begin building a long-term, sustainable core.
