NBA Analysis Network

The Dallas Mavericks are gearing up for the playoffs and are looking to win their first playoff series for the first-time since the 2010-2011 NBA season, the year they won their one and only title.

All season long, the Mavericks have battled adversity in regards to lineup changes and injuries, yet they have still emerged as one of the best defensive teams in the league, as they currently rank 5th in the league in defensive rating.

However, Dallas only ranks 18th in offensive rating and outside of Luka Doncic, they have had trouble finding consistent production, especially with Tim Hardaway Jr. out indefinitely due to a foot injury.

Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie have stepped up in recent weeks in the backcourt, but the lack of offensive production on the wing is starting to catch up to the Mavericks.

Out of the six teams in the Western Conference inside the Top-6 in the standings, Dallas ranks last in average points per game (106.6), and across the entire NBA, the Mavericks rank just 26th in average points per game.

No matter what happens in the postseason, the Mavericks will be entering the offseason looking to sure things up on the offensive-end of the floor. With limited cap space and Jalen Brunson being a free agent, there are not many moves for this franchise to make, but they do have a handful of contracts that they can move in order to bring in another high-level talent.

Davis Bertans ($16 million), Dwight Powell ($11 million) and Reggie Bullock ($10 million) are all players that Dallas could look to move on from in the offseason and while not many All-Star talents are expected to be available on the trade market, one player that could wind up making a lot of sense for them is Jerami Grant.

At the trade deadline this season, Jerami Grant was the hottest name on the trade block and was close to being dealt, but the Detroit Pistons decided to hold onto their star forward and figure out his long-term future in the offseason.

Now, getting ready to enter the final year of his contract, there is no better time for the Pistons to explore trade opportunities for Grant than at the 2022 NBA Draft, where they could potentially add more young talent and draft picks for their best player.
